Genomic Library PPT | Seminar Presentation | PDF Report: The genomic library can be defined as a group of DNA clones representing a complete genome of particular bacteria, animal or even a plant under the observation. They are used for organisms like yeast or Drosophila. On the other hand, a DNA clone is a DNA construct that spread by the replication in a microorganism. There are two components in the clone that further combined into an individual continuous DNA molecule. One of these parts is the insert DNA that isolated from the org*sm, whereas another second one is the vector that consists of genes coding.

How is the Genomic Library created?

There is the same procedure followed to create a genomic library for all the living beings. We have explained the complete process below:

DNA Isolation- In this step, the isolation from the DNA is completed from a cell that is under observation. It is a very first step, and that’s why needed to be followed very precisely.

Dividing isolated DNA- The DNA that we have isolated in the first needs to divided into the genome of a particular size with the help of restriction enzymes such as Eco R1. Many other enzymes can used in this process.

Incorporating fragments into a right size vector

Now, the fragments will be cloned into a vector having a suitable size. It can be a plasmid, cosmid, etc. that result in the formation of a rDNA molecule.

Introduction to a host

This step completed with the help of processes like screening, multiplication, and characterization of clones. The rDNA molecules introduced to a host along with the DNA fragments. The most popular type of fragments used is E. coli bacterium. There will be many copies formed due to the multiplication of the plasmid. Now, it is necessary to find the host cells from the remaining cells without the rDNA molecule.

Maintaining clones set

The host cells multiplied that develop colonies. Each of them has cells along with a phage’s DNA fragment. The genomic library of a phage represented by the maintenance of these colonies that include all the fragments.

What are the major applications of Genomic Library?

  • The Genomic Library used in a variety of things. We have explained their major applications below:
  • It is very important for DNA sequencing in almost all types of projects.
  • They used for finding the novel in the important genes in a laboratory.
  • They assist in finding new genes that normally remain silent in the host.
  • The complexity of genomes of genomes can be understood easily with the help of the genomic
  • It also helps in studying the genetic mutations in the cancer tissues.
  • They also used finding which genes expressed at a specific time.
