Factories Act 1948 PPT: Definition, History, Objectives and Right Free Download: In the nineteenth century, a large scale rise of industry could be seen in India. At that time, Major Moore, Inspector in Chief of the Bombay Cotton Department first raised the issue of providing proper laws for the working conditions in the factories and for the workers.  Since, then Factories Act has been amended for several times. Finally in 1934, Factories Act 1948 passed replacing all the previous laws regarding factories.

The main aim of the act was to regulate the working conditions in factories, safety welfare of the workers, regulation of health, and annual leave and enact special provision in respect of young persons, children who work in the factories and women.
