Strength Duration Curve PPT: Definition, Types, Factors and Significance Free Download: The strength-duration curve depicts the connection between the intensity of an electrical stimulation at a muscle’s motor point and the time required to induce a minimum contraction in that muscle. Strength relates to the vertical axis stimulus intensity, whereas duration refers to the horizontal axis pulse duration. It is used to assess nerve damage in lesions of the lower motor neurons. There are mainly three types of Strength Duration Curve- Normal Innervation, Partial denervation and complete denervation.

Strength Duration Curve PPT: Definition, Types, Factors and Significance

The shape of the Normal Innervation curve is a continuous rectangular hyperbola, the complete denervation curve is characteristically steep and shifted to the right and in the partial denervation curve a characteristic kink is present.
